Waukegan Murder Suspect Scolded By Lake County Judge

(Waukegan, IL) A Waukegan man accused of murder was back in court yesterday (Thursday), two days after being scolded by a Lake County Judge. Prisciliano Carranza is accused of intentionally driving an SUV through a group of five people on October 5th, killing one. During a hearing on Tuesday, Carranza was said to flash gang signs on his way out of the courtroom, which drew a rebuke from the judge. The 22-year-old was then set some new rules on who he can communicate with before being returned to the Lake County Jail, where he’s being held on a 5-million-dollar bond. His next court date is November 7th.

Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Kicking Officer

(Waukegan, IL) A Fox Lake woman accused of kicking a police officer during a domestic call, has pleaded not guilty. Dana West is facing felony charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer and resisting arrest, as well as misdemeanor counts of domestic battery stemming from an incident back on October 6th. The 40-year-old is currently being held on a 25-thousand-dollar bond. She is due back in court next Friday.

DUI Charges Filed After Car Crashes Through Church in Neighboring McHenry County

(Crystal Lake, IL) DUI charges have been filed after a man crashed his vehicle through a church in neighboring McHenry County. The incident took place in the early morning hours on Thursday at the Waters Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. The driver of the offending vehicle, 41-year-old Daniel Lang left the scene, but was quickly found by police. He now faces charges of DUI, and was issued several citations. No one was injured in the crash, but the church sustained heavy damage.

Hearing on Bribery Case Involving State Representative Arroyo

(Springfield, IL) A hearing will take place later today, on the possible removal of a State Representative charged with bribery. Chicago Democrat Luis Arroyo is accused of offering a monthly bribe to a sitting State Senator, in an effort to gain support for legislation. Several outlets have reported that the Senator in question is Lake County’s Terry Link…though he has vehemently denied those claims. Another hearing on the matter is expected next week.

LC Sheriff’s Office Joins Neighbors App By Ring

(Waukegan, IL) The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has announced a new partnership with Ring, and it’s Neighbor’s App. Officials say the partnership will help them solve crime with the community’s assistance. The Sheriff’s Office says they won’t be able to see who has the doorbell cameras, and can not access them…but can put out a neighborhood call for assistance if a crime happens in a certain area. Sheriff John Idelburg says anytime there is a new platform to work with and communicate with the community, it’s a “win for everyone”
