Man Who Died in Lake County Jail Identified, Autopsy Performed

(Waukegan, IL) A man who died in the Lake County Jail has been identified. Patrick McCann was discovered unresponsive in a cell on Saturday night, several hours after he was taken into custody for violating an order of protection. Correctional officers and medical personnel attempted to revive the 51-year-old by using an AED and performing CPR, but they were unsuccessful. Lake County Coroner’s officials say an autopsy showed that the Barrington man had several underlying health conditions, but that they won’t have an official cause of death until toxicology is completed. They did say there were no significant injuries on McCann which would suggest suicide or foul play. The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.
