Lone Adult Suspect in “Lake County Five” Case Gets Prison Time

“Lake County Five” Lone Adult Suspect Sentenced to Prison

(Waukegan, IL) The lone adult member of the so-called “Lake County Five” is on her way to prison. Diamond Davis was originally charged with murder, after one of her colleagues was killed while attempting to steal a car back in August in Old Mill Creek. But charges against the 18-year-old and her four juvenile co-defendants were severely reduced by Lake County State’s Attorney Michael Nerheim. Davis pleaded guilty back in September to one count of burglary. She was sentenced on Tuesday to one year in prison, and a year of supervision upon her release.

Waukegan Approves Zoning for Marijuana Dispensaries

(Waukegan, IL) The Waukegan City Council is moving forward with allowing recreation marijuana. The council approved zoning ordinances for potential future dispensaries with Mayor Sam Cunningham casting a tie breaking vote. The vote means any recreational marijuana businesses would have to be located in certain parts of downtown and the Fountain Square area. While certain trustees are against marijuana overall, they say with it going statewide, they don’t want the profits going to other areas. Recreational cannabis is legal statewide come the first of the year.

Boy Hit By Car Near Warren Township High School

(Gurnee, IL) A teen was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Gurnee. The incident took place Tuesday afternoon near the Warren Township High School’s O’Plaine Campus. The 15-year-old victim was taken from the scene to Advocate Condell in Libertyville where he was reported to be in critical, but stable condition. Gurnee Police did not release any information on the driver, or whether charges or citations were issued.

Island Lake Teen Still Missing

(Island Lake, IL) A teen missing since last week from Island Lake is still being sought. 17-year-old Abe Gonzalez was last seen leaving a party in Wauconda early Saturday morning, and hasn’t been heard from since. Friends and family are organizing a search party which will concentrate on two different areas. The search is expected to kick off at 10 o’clock this morning and run through sundown unless Gonzalez is found.
