(Lake Zurich, IL) The cause of a weekend fire that relocated a Lake Zurich department, and canceled several events, remains under investigation. The blaze that gutted the Barn at Paulus Park started on Saturday night, leaving the structure with significant fire, smoke and water damage. The building housed Lake Zurich’s Parks and Rec department, but no one was around when the fire started. That department has been temporarily relocated, but the incident caused the cancellation of several programs and activities. A monetary damage estimate has not been released.

Senate Candidate Claims “Battery” By Former Sheriff Curran
Vander Tuuk 11-5-19

(Grayslake, IL) A verbal spat between two Republican US Senate candidates had led to allegations from one of them. William Kelly claims that former Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran (a senate candidate himself) committed “battery” against him after the two crossed paths Saturday during a Lake County Republican Central Committee endorsement forum. On a YouTube video, Kelly calls out Curran for his stance on illegal immigrant driver’s licenses, an issue that was brought up back in 2012. Eventually Kelly was told to leave, and Curran took Kelly by the shoulders and escorted him to the door. Grayslake Police say a report was filed, but was not a complaint, and hasn’t been designated for investigation. Curran eventually received the endorsement from the committee.
