Lake County Sheriff’s K9 Helps to Track and Rescue Hypothermic Woman

(Antioch, IL)  Lake County Sheriff’s officials say a woman stuck in water for over an hour was found thanks to a K9. The incident started when a woman called authorities on Thursday morning, claiming she was being followed by an ex-boyfriend. Attempts to call the woman back failed, and K9 Ryker was deployed to track the woman. The 30-year-old was found near a duck blind in a channel of Lake Marie in the Antioch area. She was rescued and taken to a Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin hospital for treatment of hypothermia. An investigation determined the ex-boyfriend was following the woman because she had taken some personal property…and that the woman was not forced or pushed into the water. No charges are likely.
