(Mundelein, IL) A member of the Lake County Sheriff’s K9 team is being credited with helping to save a life. Sheriff’s officials say they were called on Sunday night to the unincorporated Mundelein area where a woman had reportedly fled a residence in mental distress without proper attire for the frigid weather. The initial call came in about 2 and a half hours after the woman had left the residence. Deputy John Forlenza and K9 Dax were able to perform a track, and located the woman unconscious and suffering from hypothermia in a wooded area about 500 feet from the residence. The woman was hospitalized and is expected to make a full recovery. No further details about the incident are being released.
