(Waukegan, IL) The Lake County Board has adopted a resolution that throws their support behind new gun control measures. The vote, which was 16-5 in favor, means the Board stands behind calls for new state and country-wide steps to control who has access to firearms, especially so-called “assault rifles.” The resolution also calls for reforms to Illinois’ Firearm Owners Identification card process and more. The Board action comes in response to the July 4th mass shooting in Highland Park that left 7 people dead and over 40 people injured. The suspect in that shooting faces a 117-count indictment, and is next due in court November 1st.
