(Springfield, IL) Illinois has grabbed the dubious achievement of leading the nation in unemployment rate. September stats from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show Illinois with a 4.5% jobless rate, unchanged from August numbers. That leads the 50 states, and only remains below the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Nevada and Alaska are tied for 2nd worst at 4.4% unemployment. Wisconsin currently stands at 3.2%, a slight uptick from August’s 3.1%.
