Identifications Released in North Chicago Double Murder, Fox Lake Drowning

(Waukegan, IL)  The victims of a double murder in North Chicago have been identified. The drive-by style shooting took place around 3:30 on Saturday morning in an alleyway near the 1-thousand block of Lincoln Street. The Lake County Coroner’s office says the deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Navor Benitez and 25-year-old David Fajardo…both of North Chicago. The pair each died from multiple gunshot wounds. No arrests have been made in the case at this point. The investigations continues by North Chicago Police and the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force

(Waukegan, IL)  A man who died after falling from a canoe into Fox Lake has been identified. Lake County Coroner’s officials say Vinod Deonarine of Schaumburg died in a manner consistent with drowning. The 30-year-old and a 45-year-old Florida man were on a canoe in the pre-dawn hours of Friday morning, when that canoe flipped causing both men to go into the water. The Florida man was able to swim to shore, Deonarine was not…neither man was wearing a life jacket. The incident remains under investigation.
