(Chicago, IL)  Illinois gas prices remain the highest in the Midwest, but they are no longer the highest of any state east of the Rocky Mountains. AAA says the average gallon of gas in Illinois stands at $3.48, 15-cents higher than the national average. Lake County comes in at a lower $3.40. In Wisconsin, the average gallon of gas currently costs $3.02, 31-cents below the national average. Kenosha County comes in slightly higher at $3.05
