(Chicago, IL) Nearly a handful of schools in Lake County have been given the honor of being called a “National Blue Ribbon” winner. The US Department of Education says the honorees are chosen based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Of the 325 schools across the country recognized for the “Blue Ribbon” award, 18 were from Illinois, with 4 here in Lake County. Those include the Braeside Elementary School in Highland Park, Lake Forest High School, the Prince Of Peace School in Lake Villa and the Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein.
