Former Illinois House Speaker Pleads Not Guilty to Massive Corruption Indictment

(Chicago, IL)  Longtime Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and one of his closest allies have pleaded not guilty to corruption charges. Madigan and Michael McClain had their pleas entered by their attorneys on Tuesday, and each face numerous counts of bribery, racketeering, wire fraud and more. Both were indicted in year’s long bribery schemes involving utility company Commonwealth Edison, and telecommunications company AT&T. Both companies have admitted to bribing the longtime Democrat powerbroker and his inner circle in exchange for favorable legislation.
