July 4 Business Recovery Fund Benefit Concert and Bitter Jester Music Fest Grand Finale
September 4 @ 4:00 pm - 10:30 pm
The 4th of July Grand Finale of the 16-year-old Bitter Jester Music Festival (BJMF) was canceled in the wake of the Highland Park parade tragedy. The concert has now been rescheduled for 4pm on Sunday, September 4, 2022, and will take place at Billy Corgan’s café and teahouse, Madame Zuzu’s, 1876 1st St, Highland Park, IL 60035. Corgan (founder of the Grammy Award Winning band Smashing Pumpkins and Highland Park resident) was a judge for the Festival’s 2020 Virtual Original Song Competition.
This is a free concert, open to the public. Donations are welcome at the door but are not required for entry. Proceeds will go to the Business Recovery Fund established by the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Highland Park/Highwood, Highland Park Bank & Trust, and BJMF Title Sponsor First Bank of Highland Park.
Contributions can also be made online at http://www.bit.ly/hpbenefit.
The finale serves as a fundraiser for local businesses affected by the tragic events at the town’s 4th of July Parade.
Then, on Monday, September 5 (Labor Day), The Best of the Bitter Jester Music Fest returns to Navy Pier’s Beer Garden from 1:20 – 8:00 pm. Featuring a solo performer plus six bands (including Bitter Jester 2020 winners Pretoria and 2021 winners Summer Drive), the special Showcase concert closes out Navy Pier’s 2022 “Live on the Lake!” music series. This show is also free to attend.
