(Highland Park, IL) Despite opposition and protests over the ongoing policy, Highland Park has expanded their proof of vaccination mandate to enter places where food is served. The city council made the extension official in a 5-2 vote on Monday, one day after some 250 people protested the order. Highland Park is the only Lake County town to impose a proof of vaccination mandate in the face of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Other areas including Waukegan and North Chicago said they had no plans of implementing the strategy, saying they didn’t want to cause further harm to already struggling businesses.
