(Waukegan, IL) Coronavirus cases fell in Lake County on Tuesday, down about 30 from the previous day. The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 86 new cases for the county, but with no new fatalities. So far in August, Lake County has seen just two Covid-related deaths. Hospitalizations slowed down as well on Tuesday, only rising by one, after averaging nearly 4 new admissions a day over the last 5 days.
Coronavirus vaccinations have been increasing in the wake of the Delta variant. Illinois health officials say the state has doled out a 7-day average of just over 39-thousand doses a day, the highest 7-day average since July 1st. Of those residents 12 and older who are eligible for a shot, 58% are fully vaccinated, while 3/4 of that same group has received at least one dose. In Lake County, over 383-thousand people have been fully vaccinated, or just over 54% of the county population.
