(Waukegan, IL) Coronavirus cases fell on average over the long holiday weekend in Lake County. Illinois Health officials say there was an average of 147 cases a day between Saturday and Tuesday, down about 11 a day from the previous weekend. The four day period came with three new fatalities. As for new hospital admissions, the Lake and McHenry County area saw a 2-bed increase on Saturday, but then held steady the other 3 days. ICU’s in the region have 22% of their beds open, the 3rd straight day over the 20% threshold.
Coronavirus vaccinations, meanwhile, have gone back to a slow crawl in Illinois. State health officials say of those 12 and up, who are eligible for a shot, over 6.5-million people (just over 60%) are considered fully vaccinated, while about 8.4-million have received at least one dose. In Lake County, about 393-thousand residents are fully vaccinated, which comes out to about 56.2% of the population.
