Coronavirus Metrics Continue Improvement, Vaccine Numbers Increase

(Waukegan, IL)  Coronavirus cases ticked up on Thursday in both Lake County and the state, but most other metrics continued their recent improvements. Illinois Health officials announced 137 new cases in the county, with no new deaths. As for hospital numbers, the Lake and McHenry County area saw a 3 bed uptick…while the state saw a decline in both new Covid-related admissions, and overall Coronavirus patients. ICU numbers showed improvement as well, showing more available capacity in both the local area, and across the state.

Meanwhile,  Coronavirus vaccines have continued their slow but steady climb across Illinois and in Lake County. Illinois Health officials say over 7.1 million residents have been fully vaccinated, or 55.7% of the state population. That number grows to nearly 63% when taking into consideration just those 12 and over who are eligible to get a shot. In Lake County over 407-thousand residents, or 58% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
