(Waukegan, IL) An investigation that started after a crash involving a pedestrian near Round Lake last summer, has concluded with charges. Lake County Sheriff’s officials say the incident took place in June of 2021 when Matthew Evers of Grayslake, jumped out of a ride-share vehicle, only to be hit by another vehicle as he walked down the road. The 34-year-old was critically injured, and subsequently died…toxicology showed a blood-alcohol level over 3-times the legal limit to operate a vehicle. The driver of the offending car, Joe Paredes of Round Lake, was reportedly operating his vehicle under the influence of cannabis. The now 31-year-old has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs, and operating an uninsured vehicle. He’s due in court February 23rd.
