(Waukegan, IL) While Lake County as a whole saw a population gain in the 2020 Census, it was a mixed bag when it came to individual towns. According to the numbers, the biggest population percentage gain went to the Village of Volo, which saw a bump of 109% over the 2010 Census. Other big gains were reported in Vernon Hills (6.9%), Lincolnshire (9.1%) and Hawthorn Woods (18.3%). The biggest population losses were found in North Chicago (-5.6%), Highwood (-6.1%) and Round Lake Beach (-3.3%). Waukegan saw a small growth (0.3%) as did Zion (1%), Gurnee was down (-1.9%).
