Average Cases Up, Deaths and Hospitalizations Down in Weekend Lake County Covid Numbers

(Waukegan, IL)  Lake County saw a small jump in the weekend average when it came to Coronavirus cases, but deaths were down compared to last week. Illinois Health officials say the county averaged 89 cases a day between Saturday and Monday, but added just one new fatality. The October death toll stands at 24. Hospital numbers decreased by 3 more beds in the Lake and McHenry County Region. Statewide, new Covid hospital admissions fell each day over the weekend, and overall Coronavirus hospitalizations are at their lowest numbers since August 3rd.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP)  Illinois officials and pediatricians are urging parents to start preparing to have their children between ages 5 and 11 vaccinated against COVID-19, when shots become available as early as next week. Gov. J.B. Pritzker said the Illinois Department of Public Health is constructing a distribution program for low-dose vaccines, which the Biden administration expects could receive federal approval by Nov. 3. Pritzker said Illinois should receive an initial shipment of 400,000 doses.
