Another Day, Another Strike of the Long Grove Covered Bridge

(Long Grove, IL)  The famous Long Grove covered bridge has been struck once again. The incident took place on Monday afternoon when an 11-foot box truck failed to make it through the 8 foot 6 inch clearance. The truck’s tires had to be deflated to remove it from under the structure, and the cleanup blocked the road for nearly an hour. The driver of the truck, a 58-year-old male from Morton Grove, was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. This was the 42nd time the bridge has been struck in just over 2 and a half years.
